Release Plan and Objectives
TopBraid 5.1 provides a technology upgrade with the move to Java 8, Eclipse Mars and Tomcat 8. Starting with this release, Windows 10 OS is also supported. Major functional enhancements in 5.1 are for TopBraid EVN and TopBraid RDM including new visualization features, dashboards and additional web services.

TopBraid Enterprise Vocabulary Net (EVN) and Reference Data Manager (RDM)
- Visualization

- Ontology modeling
- Users can now enter logical OWL 2 expressions using Manchester syntax
- New SPIN constraints
- Improved UI support for defining property cardinalities
- Users can now define sub-properties
- Crosswalk web services – take item in one vocabulary as input and return items from a cross-walked vocabulary
- Improved traceability of vocabulary’s use by external systems
- Software System is now a tab on a home page of EVN and RDM
- Pre-built model for Software Systems has been expanded
- Each system now displays a list of all vocabularies it uses
- New link to archive working copies and a new web service for archiving
- New Incomplete Data report – lists all items that lack at least one required property.
- Known Issues
- Displaying a chart of search results will not work on non-numeric data.
TopBraid Enterprise Vocabulary Net (EVN) only
- New interactive “recommend” button and panel in EVN Tagger to suggest possible tags for a selected content item
- Use non-SKOS vocabularies for auto-tagging
TopBraid Reference Data Manager (RDM) only
- New Dashboard feature displaying charts on completeness and validity of reference data, its use across relevant enterprise systems, stewardship process
- New web services to test enterprise system’s compliance against reference data
TopBraid Composer
- Improvements in W3C SHACL standard support, tracking standard’s development, still an emerging feature, not yet recommended for production use
- Improved explanation support for SPINMaps – if SPINMap optimizer is off then the light bulb button will select the relevant mapping edge in the diagram
- New Test Cases view and framework
- Navigator view now has a quick navigation button to find file by its prefix
- Known Issues
- Occasionally, a view’s toolbar will lack the “View Menu” button (right-most, drop-down-arrow icon). Workaround: Selecting a sibling view and then returning should restore it.
