RALEIGH, NC – July 12, 2016 – TopQuadrant™, a leading enterprise information management company, today announced that it has been selected as one of two companies to build a precomm ercial solution for the European Virtual Construction for Roads (V-Con) project. V-Con’s goal is to build a commercial market for a semantic engineering asset management solution to share information regarding the network and assets for the management of road networks in the Netherlands and Sweden.

The V-Con project initiated a multi-phase pre-commercial, competitive EU research project that consisted of three phases: solution design, a prototype and a pre-commercial solution. The precommercial development phase will run from June 2016 to March 2017. “We are thrilled to have been selected from the initial fourteen companies to participate in the final phase of this initiative,” said Irene Polikoff, CEO and cofounder of TopQuadrant. “TopQuadrant’s technology is a natural fit, since V-Con investigates the use of linked data and semantic technology to support the interchange and linking of engineering asset design, build and maintenance data.”

More about the V-Con Project

The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and the Swedish Transport Administration are the national road authorities (NRAs) responsible for the management, construction, operation and maintenance of the main road networks in the Netherlands and Sweden. Both road authorities aim to modernize their information management using open information-exchange standards and have formally joined forces to break out of a cycle of ICT standstill by working together in the Virtual Construction for Roads (V-Con) project. V-Con aims to enable NRAs to introduce IT technology based on open standards for exchanging/sharing comprehensive road information with commercial parties in the sector and applying them in their lifecycle and supply-chain processes.

For an NRA who procures road infrastructure design, construction, operation and/or maintenance from different construction companies, the V-Con Solution (VCS) is to be a modularized solution that supports the Linked Data/Semantic approach and open information exchange/sharing between different stakeholders using various software solutions, tools and standards during the various life-cycle stages.
