Webinar: “Navigating Data Lineage and its Impact with Interactive Visualization Maps”
This webinar explores complexity of data lineage and the power of interactive visualization to simplify and understand it. Achieving key business goals such operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and analytical insights require organizations to know the lineage of its data. Questions that organizations find challenging to answer quickly and reliably include: Where does a specific piece of data come from? Where is it used? How is it calculated? Where does it reside? What data is needed by a specific application or business process? Depending on the context & purposes of use of the data, there can be many more.
Webinar: “GraphQL – Bringing the Worlds of JSON and RDF Together”
This webinar highlights TopBraid EDG’s support for the GraphQL standard. GraphQL for RDF/SHACL provides powerful access to RDF data, combining W3C standards for schema definition, data validation, inferencing and query, with a popular JSON-centric query language for APIs. All TopQuadrant’s products provide out-of-the-box support for GraphQL. As demonstrated, TopBraid Enterprise Data Governance™ Release 6.0 (EDG) uses GraphQL extensively.
Applied Data Governance – Part 3: “Day in the Life of a Reference Data Steward”
This webinar is the third in our series spotlighting Applied Data Governance. In Part 3, we transition to a day in the life of a Reference Data Steward. In this role, he manages the use of reference data originating within the enterprise as well as reference datasets maintained externally by organizations responsible for industry standards. We describe and demonstrate the benefits of managing reference data as part of a larger data governance initiative. Using the TopBraid Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) platform, the Reference Data Steward brings internal reference data under governance and manages the activity of updating the enterprise’s existing use of an external industry standard reference dataset.
Applied Data Governance – Part 2: “Day in the Life of a Technical Data Steward”
This webinar is the second in our new Applied Data Governance series that spotlights actual examples of governance practice. Data governance delivers business value by aligning the management of data with its uses in an organization. In each part of this series, we show how applied data governance requires practical, day-to-day integration of top-down, bottom-up and middle-out processes and capabilities. In Part 2, we transition to a day in the life of a Technical Data Steward where the focus will be on automated metadata ingestion and data profiling in TopBraid EDG. We also show how business rules can be used to automate mapping of data to glossary terms for more meaningful use and quality control.
Real World Data Governance – Part 1: “Day in the Life of a Business Steward”
This webinar launches our new Real World Data Governance series. For the first webinar we focus on the role of the business steward who is managing business glossaries, on their collaboration with other members of the data governance team and on the business value delivered as a result of their work improving the quality and understandability of business data.
An Overview of SHACL: A New W3C Standard for Data Validation and Modeling
In these webinar recordings, We demonstrate key aspects of the SHACL constraint language and how SHACL can support enterprise applications by showing ways that it is currently being used within our agile data governance solution, TopBraid Enterprise Data Governance. These include validating data entered by users, and dynamically generating forms.
SHACL (SHAPES Constraint Language) is a powerful, recently released W3C standard for data modeling, ontology design, data validation, inferencing and data transformation. SHACL is based on RDF and SPARQL. The design of SHACL is heavily inspired by SPIN (which originated from TopQuadrant) and IBM’s Resource Shapes and therefore inherits a wealth of practical experience, solving real-world problems and “getting the job done”
Semantic Data Governance for GDPR Compliance (Oct 12, June 22 and May 18, 2017)
In this webinar recording, We explore the questions, “How can you effectively prepare for EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance? And … “How can TopBraid EDG and semantic standards help?”
GDPR is an urgent and critical area of regulatory compliance and data governance. The specific GDPR knowledge base and engine along with the general data governance and regulatory compliance capabilities within TopBraid EDG provide the coverage, flexibility and insight needed for ensured and timely compliance with GDPR.
Metadata Management is Key to Data Governance Initiatives
In this webinar recording, TopQuadrant outlines the importance, challenges and value of effective metadata management. We show how the semantic standards help to support the capture and governance of meaningful metadata. We demonstrate the capabilities that our solution, TopBraid Enterprise Data Goveranance (TopBraid EDG) provides for comprehensive metadata management– using a semantic standards-based approach. View this webinar to learn how you can start with metadata management or integrate it into your data governance program at any time using TopBraid EDG.
Reference Data Management in TopBraid EDG
In this webinar recording, TopQuadrant outlines the value of Reference Data Management (RDM) and steps needed for implementing it. We demonstrate the capabilities that our solution, TopBraid Enterprise Data Goveranance (TopBraid EDG) provides for: getting started with RDM; for importing, mapping and curating reference data within a collaborative, multi-user environment; and connecting RDM with broader data governance assets and capabilities.
