TopBraid Suite bridges the software engineering community and the
semantic technology community. Built on the de-facto standard Java
tooling platform Eclipse, TopBraid Composer seamlessly integrates some
of the finest Semantic Web components into an industrial-strength development
environment. With its facilities to import data models from UML, XML Schema
and relational databases into scalable RDF/OWL triple stores, TopBraid
Composer serves as a semantic data and knowledge integration tool.

The core components of Composer such as Jena are open-source, while Composer's own API is well-documented, helping plug-in developers create extensions to Composer:
TopBraid Composer Plug-in Development Guide
Some community members are contributing their plug-ins as third-party extensions.
TopBraid Composer users can benefit from professional support and training classes for all levels of experience. TopQuadrant furthermore offers software development solutions ranging from plug-in development to deployable semantic end-user applications.
Most of the features in TopBraid Composer have been optimized to meet the requirements of real-world projects that TopQuadrant staff encounters during its consulting, training and development work. TopBraid is also driven by customer feedback and we appreciate further comments on how to improve the system.

Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on providing a vendor-neutral open development platform and application frameworks for building software. Now supported by the Eclipse Foundation, original contributors to Eclipse included IBM. TopBraid Composer is built on top of Eclipse, so that the many existing Eclipse plug-ins can be used side by side with Composer.

Jena is the most widely used Java framework for building Semantic Web applications. Jena provides an API for RDF, RDFS and OWL, SPARQL and includes a rule-based inference engine. Jena is open source and grown out of work with the HP Labs Semantic Web Programme. TopBraid Composer uses Jena as its underlying API including services such as reasoning and queries.

Sesame is an open source RDF database with support for RDF Schema inferencing and querying. Sesame is further developed and maintained by a consortium lead by Aduna and an active open source community. The proven scalability and reliability of Sesame and its direct integration into Composer make Sesame a good deployment platform for semantic end-user applications.
