Release Plan and Objectives
TBS 3.2 is a minor release that incrementally extends the robustness and capabilities of TopBraid Suite.
The Release Objectives are as follows:

·       TopBraid Live – improve stability, manageability, maintainability and performance

·       TopBraid Ensemble – extend existing feature to enable a greater range of business applications

·       TopBraid Composer – maintain position as the most reliable and capable ontology development tool, support TopBraid Live/Ensemble objectives

recent previous Releases

TBS 3.2 release follows on releases 3.1.0 which was made available July 20th, and the maintenance release 3.1.1 (bug fixes only) that was made available August 3, 2009.

key new features: products

TopBraid Composer

·       OWL 2 support

·       Upgrade to Eclipse 3.5 – Gives ability to run TBC on top of Eclipse 3.5

·       Group by namespaces switch for class/property trees – Enables viewing classes and properties in TBC hierarchically organized by namespaces

·        SPARQL Debugger and Profiler - can be used to step through an executing SPARQL query to examine intermediate bindings and performance

·       TBL deploy wizard - Packages up a project in the local TBC-ME workspace for deployment on the TBL server

·        Improved 64 bit support

TopBraid Ensemble

·        Support for multi-page applications

·        Support for wizards

·        Support for interactive execution of SPARQLMotion scripts from TBE

·        New components:

o    Button component that can be used to run scripts and perform other functions

o    Search  Field Component

o    SPARQLMotion relay – invisible component that provides another method for  triggering execution of scripts from component configuration options

TopBraid Live

·       LiveCache - a local Java-side cache database that mirrors remote database(s) in order to significantly boost application performance while continuously relaying all the changes in the data back to the remote database(s). In Release 3.2, Live Cache is offered only for the Oracle 11G RDF database.

·       Added ability to run TopBraid Live as a SPARQL end point

·       User and group management, including optional integration with LDAP roles

·       Access control lists for projects, folders and graphs

·       Management access control

·       Several new server administration and management features

·       Improved handling of labels

·       Memory management improvements

·       Better integration with TopBraid Composer and TopBraid Ensemble [TBE apps developed in TBC can now be uploaded easily]

key new features: TopBraid platform

SPARQLMotion

·         Several new SM modules, including:

o    module that returns the user of the current TBE session

o    module that triggers execution scripts based on an e-mail received on the server

o    module to walk through a result of an SQL SELECT query

o    module that listens-for/tracks e-mails sent to the server

SPIN

·        Added spin:fix to implement suggestions for constraint violation fixes

·        Support for user-defined magic properties to SPIN, allowing users to define rules with backward chaining.

·         Improvements to provide ability to better govern rule execution and distribute them across devices

Known Issues

·        When using TopBraid Ensemble with TopBraid Composer ME, all temporary graphs used by Ensemble have corresponding views opened in Composer. These are both potentially confusing and noticeably impact performance.

·        The TopBraid Ensemble form does not limit the number of occurrences of any property. For example, when using SPARQL Motion scripts, it is inappropriately possible to enter multiple arguments, only one of which is bound.

·        The TopBraid Ensemble form permits both creating new items and adding existing items, even in places where only one is appropriate. Examples are found in TopBraid Live's Access Control Editor, where the user must avoid inappropriate operations.

·        A few labels in TopBraid Ensemble are inappropriate. For example over eager truncation "Lab...", or a lost label such as "id: 1107". - a local Java-side cache database that mirrors remote database(s) in order to significantly boost application performance while continuously relaying all the changes in the data back to the remote database(s). In Release 3.2, Live Cache is offered only for the Oracle 11G RDF database.
